For new hockey parents, the pathway of when to play which level can be confusing. The road map below is the typical progression for players to ensure they are properly prepared to play 10U hockey at any level. Our goal is to have teams at varying levels of skills which allows every player to continue to play hockey and develop appropriately.
01
Little Bruins & Lite Mite
Many players begin with Little Bruins to develop fundamental hockey skills. It is an excellent program that serves as a steppingstone to the season long Mite Lites. Mite Lites is a first-year program focusing on fundamentals.
02
8U House
Players typically play on house for one year to help develop fundamental game skills and learn to play on a team.
03
8U Travel Year 1
Ideally, players have 2 years in travel before moving to 10U travel. Travel provides multiple teams allowing players to compete at an appropriate level while continuing to develop their skills and love for the game.
04
8U Travel Year 2
The second year of 8U Travel continues to focus on player development so that each player is equipped to excel at the next level. Players are placed on teams that best match their ability. Players mature and develop at different rates, and their improvement is best facilitated by playing with and against players with similar ability.
We recognize that not every player or family wants to play at the travel level, so we have designed a 10-12U Developmental Team for these players to continue to play and grow past 8U!
