Merry Mite Tournament Official Rules

  1. All games will be 4 on 4 with a dressed goalie.
  2. All Tournament games will be ½ ice games
  3. 24-minute running time with buzzer every 90 seconds for shift change. If players are double shifting, they must tag up at the bench before playing on. Referees will be instructed to hold on to placing the puck in play until all payers are on the ice.
  4. Score will be kept for each game by a scoring volunteer. Disputes will be handled by the Tournament Director; however, no appeals will be acknowledged.
  5. All teams must be ready to take the ice 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time.
  6. It is suggested that teams bring both Home and Away jerseys. Home teams will wear white/light color, and Away teams will wear dark color.
  7. Referee will throw puck to neutral part of the ice during shift change.
  8. If a penalty is called, the penalized player must leave the ice for a shift and is replaced with another player. Repetitive rough play will be handled by the Head Referee.
  9. After a goal is scored the puck will be given to the team scored upon and opposing team must back up to mid-ice to give them space. Teams must back up to mid-ice when the goalie covers the puck.
  10. Tournament: This will be a round-robin tournament. 2 points will be given for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 for a loss. The top teams from each division will play on Sunday in a playoff format and get two games. A consolation and championship game will be played in both divisions.
  11. At the end of regulation during the playoffs, if a game is tied, the clock remains running and the first goal scored wins.
  12. Tie Breakers in standings for playoffs will be determined in the following order: Least # of goals allowed, Goal differential, Head-to-Head matchup, coin toss. A max goal differential of 7 will be awarded for games. There is NO BENEFIT to running up the score on a team!!
  13. Our games are officiated by volunteers and are often underage players from higher age divisions. There is zero tolerance for any abusive or aggressive language from coaches, players, or spectators!
